Who must verify
Every director and every Person of Significant Control (PSC) of a UK company must now verify their identity. This applies to existing entities and all new incorporations from 2026 onward.
The two verification paths
- Direct via GOV.UK One Login (self-serve, requires certain UK IDs and a smartphone)
- Through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) — Entity Makers is an ACSP
What ACSP verification looks like
As an ACSP we run enhanced KYC — passport plus biometric selfie plus proof of address — and file the verification directly with Companies House. Non-residents can complete the process from anywhere in under an hour.
Timelines and cost
Direct verification is free but slower and often bounces for non-residents. ACSP verification typically ranges £30–£75 per person and is completed same-day.
What happens if you don't verify
You cannot be appointed as a director. Existing directors who miss the transition deadline face automatic removal from the register and Companies House can strike off the company.
