Why sell on Amazon under a US LLC
Amazon accepts sellers from 100+ countries, but non-resident individual sellers face higher withholding, harder disbursement and worse trust signals. An Amazon Professional account under a US LLC unlocks 0% federal withholding on non-US-source income, US ACH payouts and full Brand Registry.
Requirements
- US LLC (Wyoming most common)
- EIN letter
- Business bank account (Mercury / Relay / Wise)
- Chargeable credit card in the LLC's name (Wise or Mercury work)
- Passport for identity verification
- Utility bill or bank statement for proof of address
Account creation walkthrough
Sign up at sellercentral.amazon.com as a 'Professional' seller ($39.99/month). Choose 'Business' and enter the LLC exactly as on the formation certificate. Complete the identity verification video call — schedule during your daytime hours.
The tax interview
Amazon's tax interview issues Form W-8BEN-E for a non-resident-owned LLC. The correct chapter 3 status is 'Corporation' (yes, even for an LLC — that's how Amazon's system routes it), and the treaty benefit depends on your country of residence. When unsure, treat US-source income as 30% withholding and Amazon-warehouse-only fulfillment as ECI.
Brand Registry
Once your trademark is registered (or pending in some countries), enroll in Brand Registry. This unlocks A+ Content, Sponsored Brands, Brand Analytics and stronger protection against hijackers.
Payouts
Amazon pays every 14 days by default. Connect a US-currency account (Mercury, Relay or Wise Business USD account). Payouts arrive as ACH with no extra fee.
